THE AWAY fans high up in the Leazes Stand at St James' Park weren't the only ones singing Oscar Bobb's name after his injury-time winner at Newcastle.
When the 20-year-old returned to the away dressing room after an on-pitch interview, his teammates were singing it too.
It was a day that Bobb will never forget. He had long suspected his first Premier League goal would come at the Etihad, introduced as a substitute in a game in which City already had won. He would put the icing on the cake of a comfortable win. Never did he dream of making the kind of unforgettable impact that he did on Tyneside.
The fact he was trusted to come on with a thrilling, tetchy game tied at 2-2 was proof of the faith Pep Guardiola has in the less heralded of his Norwegians.
Bobb had played 111 minutes of Premier League football before being introduced ahead of a still-unwell Jack Grealish at Newcastle.
Ten minutes later, he latched on to a Kevin De Bruyne pass, showed quick feet to shift the ball inside Kieran Trippier and past Martin Dubravka and rolled it into the back of the net for the winning goal, delivering just what Guardiola had asked of him as he waited to come on.
