Stop the pigeons!

RAIL company Northern has issued an urgent plea for commuters not to feed pigeons at Manchester Victoria railway station.

Rail bosses also revealed the ingenious, but ultimately doomed, efforts they have taken to rid stations of the birds including the use of fake plastic owls and 'fire gel.

The train operator said it was 'locked in a long-running battle' with the birds, which nest at stations and can cause problems due to their hazardous and corrosive droppings.
