Fire crews, police officers and council workers were called to 'reports of a building in danger of collapsing' on Yorkshire Street in Oldham just before 4.30pm on Sunday. A stretch of the road was closed off while inspections were carried out.
Coun Chris Goodwin, Oldham council's cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said the facade of the building fell onto the pavement in the closed-off area overnight as the strong gusts continued. A structural engineer was due to 'review the state of the building' yesterday.
