People living at Sanctuary Students' Denmark Road block, opposite Whitworth Park, have also had to use the toilets at reception downstairs due to leaks across the site, which have affected water supply.
Students have been advised they can use showers at Sugden Sports Centre a 25-minute, one-mile walk away.
Sanctuary Students offers private accommodation in the city. Bosses work in partnership with the University of Manchester, but rooms are also on offer to Manchester Metropolitan, Salford and Bolton university students.
