Making his first appearance of pre-season, the United winger starred in the Scottish capital, helping the Reds seal a 2-0 win.

He opened the scoring shortly before half-time, bending home a brilliant left-footed effort.

After receiving a pass from Mason Mount, he cut inside, advanced into the penalty area, created a yard of space for himself and fired a curling effort past Jack Butland. It was nothing more than his first-half showing deserved.

Amad ended last season as one of United's in-form players, making the most of the long-awaited opportunity that had finally come his way in May. He impressed in the narrow defeat to Arsenal and scored three days later against Newcastle United.

As a result, United's fans all wanted to know why it had taken Erik ten Hag so long to give him a chance. Only he knows the answer.

Ahead of the upcoming campaign, it could be argued the rightwing spot is Amad's to lose. Antony, who is yet to appear in pre-season, went backwards last term and does not provide the same level of creativity as his right-wing counter-part.
