Figen’s son Martyn Hett was one of 22 people killed in the terror attack on May 22, 2017. Since then she’s fought to increase protection against terrorism.
Yesterday, Martyn’s Law, named in honour of the 29-year-old PR manager from Stockport, was implemented.
Figen said it had been a day of mixed emotions. She said: “I am exhausted. I am still processing everything. I can’t believe we have finally reached the stage where we are at the beginning of the end.
“It’s taken a while and there is a way to go yet, but hopefully it will on the statute books by the eighth anniversary [of the attack].”
