United's problems loom front and centre as forward? line needs work

TWO of the most pressing decisions facing those heading up the new football structure at United this summer concern attacking players currently not at the club.

United's problems loom front and centre as forward? line needs work

Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood are playing their football in Germany and Spain respectively, having been declared persona non grata at Old Trafford. But there isn't an option to make the move permanent in either deal and they will return to the club with their futures uncertain.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the footballing department that is set to be headed up by Dan Ashworth will have a decision to make on both and they will have to judge each case individually. Ratcliffe left the door ajar for Greenwood when he met journalists shortly after his stake in United had been confirmed, but it's difficult to see a way back for the academy graduate.

This really should be the easiest decision facing United this summer. The club have already attempted to reintegrate the forward once and it proved impossible.

A permanent departure to another La Liga club is the only possible solution and it's a move that should be completed as soon as possible. As an academy graduate any fee that United bank will be beneficial to their Profit and Sustainability calculations.

The case around Sancho is more difficult to decipher. The 23-yearold has rediscovered some form, confidence and enjoyment for the game back at Borussia Dortmund. There is an obvious temptation to try and  bring him back into the squad.
