The BJP, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, won 46 out of 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh, marking its third consecutive term and an increase from its 2019 tally. The SKM, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, won 31 out of 32 seats in Sikkim, continuing its governance for a second term.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP’s victory was decisive, with the party gaining a vote share of 54.57 per cent and leaving the Opposition, including the Congress, NPP, NCP, and PPA, with significantly fewer seats. Chief Minister Khandu, who won uncontested from the Mukto Assembly constituency, attributed the win to the development witnessed under the BJP-led central government and the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their support and promised continued efforts towards the state’s growth.
The BJP decimated the opposition parties, especially the Congress which was relegated to the fifth position with only one seat after NPP (5), NCP (3) and PPA (2). Three seats went to Independent candidates.
