Haryana: Anil Vij throws hat in ring for CM post despite BJP endorsing Saini

Senior BJP leader and former Haryana Minister, Anil Vij, on Sunday, declared his intent to stake a claim for the chief minister's post if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returns to power in the upcoming Assembly elections on October 5.

This announcement comes amid the party's decision to project Nayab Singh Saini as its official chief ministerial candidate.

The six-time MLA from Ambala Cantt, known for his outspoken nature, expressed that his decision was driven by public demand and his seniority within the party. "I never sought anything from the party till today," said Vij.

"People from Haryana are coming to meet me. Even in Ambala, people tell me that I am the senior-most, so why didn't I become the CM? On demand of the people, and on the basis of seniority, this time I will stake claim to become the chief minister," he said.

Vij acknowledged that the final decision rests with the party but added: "If they make me CM, I will change Haryana's 'takdeer and tasveer' (destiny and face)."
