ISIS claims its 'soldier' murdered 3 at festival

An armed assailant randomly struck the throats and necks of people in a crowd on Friday, at a celebration marking the city of Solingen’s 650th anniversary.

Local media reported the perpetrator shouted “Allahu Akbar” or “God is great” and wore a Palestinian flag as he carried out the atrocity.

As a huge manhunt continued last night, the Islamic State’s own news channel stated: “The attacker on the Christian gathering in the city of Solingen in Germany yesterday was a soldier of the Islamic State.”

It added the attack was in revenge for “the Muslims in Palestine”.

Two men aged 67 and 56, and a woman, 56, were killed and eight people were hurt, with four still fighting for their lives.

The rest of the three-day Festival of Diversity was cancelled.

Yesterday a 15-year-old boy was arrested, but police said he was being questioned because witnesses had overheard him speaking about the attack before it started.
