Speaking at an event in the national capital, the Minister revealed that around 2,500 new general passenger train coaches are currently being manufactured, with approval granted for an additional 10,000 such coaches. This initiative marks a substantial effort to improve the capacity and efficiency of the Indian Railways.

In addition to the new coaches, the Minister also disclosed the commencement of manufacturing for another 50 Amrit Bharat trains. Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two such trains from Maldah and Darbhanga. The Amrit Bharat trains are designed as LinkeHofmann-Busch (LHB) pushpull trains, featuring locomotives at both ends for better acceleration and efficiency. The process for manufacturing another 150 Amrit Bharat trains is already underway.
