'US LAWMAKERS FOSTER STRONGER US-INDIA BILATERAL TIES'

The ongoing visit to India by a US Congressional delegation, led by Indian American lawmaker Ro Khanna, has significantly bolstered bilateral ties and highlights a distinctive approach that could potentially shape the future of the relationship, according to notable community members.

Ro Khanna, a four-term Congressman representing Silicon Valley in the House of Representatives, held meetings on Wednesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The delegation also participated in the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, where the national flag was raised by the prime minister. Throughout his visits to New Delhi and Mumbai, Khanna engaged with leaders of civil society, prominent figures from Bollywood including Amitabh Bachchan, and leaders of the opposition. “Having elected members of the US Congress present during our celebration is a source of happiness,” remarked Modi in his Independence Day address. Reflecting on his experiences, Khanna shared, “I had the honor of visiting Raj Ghat on India’s Independence Day to pay my respects to Mahatma Gandhi, a global leader of immense significance.
