A heavy security cordon has been thrown in and around temples across Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada district in the runup to the Navratri celebrations.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Vijayawada City Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu said that foolproof arrangements have been made to ensure security and hassle-free darshan for devotees.

According to the police, around 4500 police personnel will be deployed across the city as part of the arrangements. The police have also set up a command centre in Vijayawada to oversee the security, and CCTVs have been installed across the district, the officials said.
