ASSESSING DINESH LAL YADAV'S PERFORMANCE AS AZAMGARH'S MP

Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat is considered a stronghold of former Chief Minister of UP and founder of the Samajwadi Party, Mulayam Singh Yadav. In the 2014 elections, Mulayam Singh Yadav defeated BJP's strong candidate Rama Kant Yadav here.

Azamgarh, known as the stronghold of BSP and SP, has undergone political changes. Azam Khan established this city, which has been a hub for freedom fighters, sages, and scholars.

Currently, the famous Bhojpuri singer and BJP leader Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' is the Member of Parliament from here. In 2008, Nirahua's first film, 'Nirahua Rickshawala,' created a sensation at the Bhojpuri box office. Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' is a prominent name in the Bhojpuri film industry. He also participated in Season 6 of Bigg Boss in 2012.

In 2019, Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' joined the BJP and contested from the Azamgarh seat against SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

However, he faced defeat. In the by-elections of 2022, he secured a significant victory in Azamgarh, making a mark in SP's stronghold.

In 2017, Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the Samajwadi Party, was elected as a Member of Parliament from Azamgarh. After that, in the 2022 Assembly elections, he won from the Karhal constituency, resigning from the Azamgarh MP post to become an MLA.

Subsequently, he took on the responsibility of the opposition leader in UP.

The Azamgarh seat remained vacant, and Akhilesh Yadav fielded his cousin Dharmendra Yadav, but he faced defeat. The SP had to face a severe setback in its stronghold. Bhojpuri superstar Nirahua had won this seat with a massive margin.
