METRO INDIA NEWS

A wave of disciplinary action has been initiated against senior police officers in Andhra Pradesh for alleged misuse of power and procedural lapses during the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government.

The suspensions and legal proceedings mark a significant crackdown by the current government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, following his return to power in June 2024.

Senior police officers, tasked with upholding the law and protecting citizens, appear to have been reduced to instruments of political vendettas, abandoning their duty to the public in favor of serving the interests of the ruling establishment.

Officers like former CID chief N Sanjay, ex-intelligence head P Sitarama Anjaneyulu, and others were allegedly deployed to carry out politically motivated arrests and investigations.

The spotlight is on senior IPS officer N Sanjay, the former Additional Director General of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), who was recently suspended for alleged misappropriation of government funds.

Sanjay is accused of financial irregularities related to public funds, including dubious procurements and incomplete projects.
