2 more lives lost to work pressures
The Free Press Journal|September 30, 2024
In a heartbreaking turn of events, two unrelated deaths this past week have drawn attention to the growing and deadly impact of work-related stress in India.

A 40-year-old IT professional in Nagpur and a 34-year-old finance manager in Jhansi lost their lives, one to a cardiac arrest and the other by suicide, both allegedly triggered by the immense pressures of their jobs.

The first incident occurred late on Friday evening in Nagpur, where Nitin Edwin Michael, a senior analyst at HCL Technologies, tragically died in the office washroom after suffering a cardiac arrest. Colleagues found him unresponsive and rushed him to the All AIIMS in Nagpur, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Initial reports confirmed a heart attack as the cause of death, and the police have registered a case of accidental death. Michael is survived by his wife and their six-year-old son, who now face the unimaginable loss of a husband and father.
