Citizens are troubled by bad roads and potholes

The recent heavy rains have exposed the city's crumbling road infrastructure, the materials getting washed off from the rainwater revealing numerous potholes, which have now become dangerous traps for the commuters.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reportedly filled 8,472 potholes between Mar 1 and Aug 1. Despite fixing these potholes the citizens' woes don't come to an end.

The heavy rains swiftly eroded these temporary fixes, resulting in large, water-filled potholes across the city. The residents pointed out the civic body's lacklustre approach to maintaining city roads. Even before the monsoon's official arrival, newly repaired roads were already riddled with potholes, and many reappeared in the same places. This has led to severe traffic congestion, particularly on major and busy intersections.
