COMMUTERS MUST SLUG IT OUT
The Free Press Journal|May 31, 2024
In the wake of the marathon mega block to be undertaken for platform extension works at Thane and at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from today till June 2, the Central Railway (CR) has requested the BEST and state transport (MSRTC) authorities to ply additional buses for the convenience of commuters.
COMMUTERS MUST SLUG IT OUT

The CR has also asked government offices and private establishments to ensure that only minimum staff is on duty or offer them a workfrom-home option, if possible.

Services between CSMT-Byculla on the Main line and CSMT-Wadala on the Harbour line will be completely cancelled and to enable commuters to reach their destination without trouble, the CR has asked for additional bus services. "We have requested at least 25-30 additional buses between CSMT and Dadar stations for the benefit of outstation passengers, since mail express trains will also face disruption due to the mega block," said Divisional Railway Manager of Central Railway Rajnish Kumar Goyal.

Acting on the request made by CR, the BEST undertaking will deploy 486 additional buses on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to enable smooth travel for commuters.

Besides, the CR authorities have also requested the government offices and private establishments to have the bare minimum staff on duty during these two days.
