Decks cleared for RPF cop's trial

Paving the way for a trial, the sessions court framed charges against dismissed Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable Chetansinh Chaudhary Wednesday, for shooting his senior officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector Tika Ram Meena and three Muslim passengers on board the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express on July 31, 2023.

On Wednesday, Chaudhary was produced before the sessions court from Akola jail, for the framing of charges. The prosecution appraised the court about the incident and insisted that Chaudhary be charged not only for murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code but also for his communal statements under section 153-A, for promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion.
