The Kosi breached its embankment near Kartarpur block, inundating the villagers of Kirtarpur and Ghanshyampur in Darbhanga late Sunday night. Similarly, seepage was reported in the embankment of Bagmati river under Runni Saidpur block in Sitamarhi district.
State water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that six embankment breaches had been reported across the state so far. He said that some embankment breaches had already been plugged while efforts were underway to repair others.
