Karnataka is heading for a face off between the Raj Bhavan and the Congress with Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot giving sanction to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.
The alleged scam is about the CM's wife BM Parvathi getting 14 high value plots (50 per cent of the land) in Mysuru city in 2021 as compensation from MUDA in return of 3.16 acres of agricultural land that was acquired by the latter.
The sanction from the gov ernor clears the way for an official investigation against Siddaramaiah and his wife.
This is the second such sanction, granted in Karnataka, for such a prosecution.
BS Yediyurappa was the first in 2011 when the then governor HR Bharadhwaj had allowed prosecution in an illegal mining case that eventually forced him to resign.
Thereafter he was imprisoned, and is currently out on bail.
