Iran's supreme leader, holding the barrel of a rifle in his left hand, warned on Friday of further strikes against Israel, using a rare sermon in Tehran to express solidarity with Palestinians and Hezbollah. He said Iran will not "procrastinate nor act hastily to carry out its duty" in confronting Israel.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 80, delivered his first sermon in nearly five years, addressing his audience mostly in Arabic; he used the opportunity to hail Hezbollah's battle as a 'vital service to the region', warning Israel 'will not last long'. His appearance in person, despite security concerns, underscored the importance being placed on the occasion. The last time Khamenei delivered a sermon was in 2020 after the United States killed Iran's top general, Maj. Gen Qassim Suleimani in Iraq when Tehran fired missiles at an American base in Iraq.
