Ayush Mhatre's maiden FirstClass hundred powered Mumbai to a position of against Maharashtra on the first strength day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy Ground in the Bandra-Kurla Complex on Friday.
Mhatre's thoroughly deserving hundred was the cornerstone of the Mumbai innings as he put on a 99-run third-wicket stand with skipper Ajinkya Rahane to take the home team to safer shores after the early loss of Prithvi Shaw and Hardik Tamore. Mhatre's hundred had come off 133 balls comprising 14 boundaries and two sixes struck in 178 minutes.
Rahane was out lbw on 31 off 64 balls after he had put on a healthy stand with Mhatre for the third wicket.
