No need for kids to wear uniform sweaters, schools told

State Education Minister Praful Panseriya has issued a clear directive to private schools, emphasising that no child should be forced to wear sweaters of a specific color or brand prescribed by schools this winter.

In light of the plummeting temperatures, the minister highlighted the governments commitment to ensuring children's safety and comfort during the cold season.

Panseriya stressed that all district education officers have been instructed to monitor compliance with this policy. Schools, whether primary, secondary, or higher secondary, are prohibited from compelling students to wear thin or non-chill-proof sweaters solely to match their uniforms. Instead, parents have the liberty to provide children with warm clothing of their choice, including cold-proof sweaters, hats, and gloves, to safeguard them against the chill.
