The arrested individuals include Andekar's two sisters, Sanjeevani and Kalyani, and their husbands, Jayant and Ganesh Komkar.
The arrests were made after family members of Andekar alleged the involvement of the four in the FIR, the police said. According to Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, the attack, which occurred around 8.30pm on Sunday, was reportedly the result of an old family dispute and property-related enmity.
"The incident occurred around 8.30pm when a group of men attacked Andekar near the Doke Talim in the Nana Peth area. Five rounds were fired at him and he was also attacked with long-blade sickles. He was brought dead to KEM Hospital and then his body was sent to the Sassoon General Hospital for postmortem. In this matter, we have arrested four suspects and are searching for others," Sharma told The Free Press Journal. He further mentioned that the case had reached the police earlier on Sunday, but a non-cognisable offence was registered as it appeared to be a domestic issue.
