Pvt school teachers rue govt's poll-duty order

Hundreds of them receive notice for allegedly skipping training session; say election work disrupts academics

Hundreds of teachers from private unaided schools across the state are up in arms over the government's threat to file FIR against them if they don't perform duties related to the assembly polls, which are scheduled on November 20.

Talking to The Free Press Journal, Maharashtra English Schools Trustees' Association president Sanjayrao Patil said many teachers have already received show cause notices from district administrations for skipping or refusing to participate in training sessions. He pointed out that though the government has not yet uploaded the list of teachers required to do poll duty, on its website, it has issued notices to them individually.
