Srivalli nurses new cubs, activists want saler safari

Even as the city is celebrating tigress Srivalli giving birth to three cubs at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on May 17, environmentalists have raised concerns about cleanliness and safety of the 'safari' here, alleging that harmful objects and the size of the enclosure is an imminent threat to animals. Srivalli, in fact, gave birth to four cubs but one was crushed under her year, weight.

In March last Srivalli (also known as T24C2) had given birth to four cubs but three of them died.

The tigress was also in news in 2022 for being rescued in Tadoba in Chandrapur before being brought to the Borivali park, which last witnessed the birth of tiger cubs in 2000. The current streak of tigers in the park now stands at 10.
