Family of hotel worker stabbed in Walsall are 'heartbroken'

Whyte, 27, was seriously injured at Bescot Stadium railway station on 20 October while on the phone to her best friend, after finishing a shift at a nearby Radisson hotel.

Deng Chol Majek, 18, understood to be a Sudanese asylum seeker who was staying at the hotel where Whyte worked, has been charged with murder following the attack.

Whyte's sister Alexandra Whyte, 29, said: "We are taking it minute by minute. The impact of losing Rhiannon is catastrophic."

Whyte's family said she had been working in hospitality at the Park Inn by Radisson hotel for about six months, and had enjoyed "sitting with and spending time with the service users" who stayed there.

Alexandra Whyte said: "A lot of them opened up to her about their story of how they came to the UK. She always saw the good in everyone, and with her working at the hotel, it meant that she was making a positive difference to people in need."
