Francis and his co-writer, Carlo Musso, have been working on the book for six years. The plan was for it to come out after his death, but "the needs of our times", as well as the opportunity to publish at the time of the 2025 Catholic jubilee - a time dedicated to forgiveness, spiritual renewal and celebration in the church that takes place every 25 years - had moved the pope to release it while he was still alive, said his publisher, Penguin Random House.
