PLYMOUTH people are being encouraged to report potholes as the city is given more than £1m to fix thousands of holes in its roads. Britain's Ocean City is to receive an additional £1.175m from the Government to tackle the pothole menace.
The council said the cash was equivalent to filling in 16,261 potholes next year. In a six-month period in 2023 alone, more than £750,000 was spent on carriageway repairs in Plymouth, mostly sorting out potholes.
A Freedom of Information request last year revealed Plymouth City Council had repaired more than 17,000 potholes between 2017 and 2023, and had paid out more than £371,000 in compensation because of pothole damage.
