FIVE female Royal Navy sailors, known as the Valkyries, are planning to make history by becoming the first serving military women's team to row across the Atlantic Ocean.
They will face a challenging journey of 3,000 miles and compete against around three dozen other teams in what is known as the World's Toughest Row.
This is the fourth time a Royal Navy team has participated in this event in five years, under the HMS Oardacious initiative which supports the mental health of sailors and their families.
The team, consisting of skipper Izzy Rawlinson, Ali Aindow, Aaby Aldridge, Lily-Mae Fisher and Nic Hall, plan to set off from San Sebastien de la Gomera in the Canaries on December 12 and aim to reach Nelson's Dockyard, Antigua about five weeks later.
