A GREEN-fingered volunteer who set up a charity offering horticultural therapy to everyone from young people facing homelessness to cancer patients has been shortlisted for a national award.
Deb Hoskin, 59, of Millbrook in Cornwall, founded the Horticultural Therapy Trust (HTT) in 2012, seeking to provide therapeutic and learning opportunities through horticulture.
The charity has gone from strength to strength working alongside social prescribers, schools, Harbour Pathways, Rethink, and supporting agencies including housing association LiveWest.
Deb has developed a partnership with South West social housing provider LiveWest to spearhead a number of volunteering projects designed to use the environment to develop learning opportunities for young people.
She has planted trees with children in the community, establishing a tree-nursery, orchard, and an after-school environment club at Millbrook Primary School, Millbrook, Cornwall.
