Aidan Heslop, 21, began diving at the age of seven but rather than follow in the footsteps of his hero he opted to take on jumps three times as high.
Recounting his journey as a cliff diver and how he got into the sport, Aidan said: "The main route to getting into cliff diving is diving, essentially. Me and my brother were at a basketball game when I was seven and we saw Tom Daley there, who was a VIP guest, and from there we decided to start diving.
"We did the normal steps for any kid who's seven years old and then at around ten, I was shown a video of high diving. The world champion at the time had learnt a new dive and I just couldn't believe it was real." But from that moment on Aidan was hooked by high diving and went on to compete in his first competition aged just 12. Despite being new to the sport, Red Bull were left impressed by his talent and 'started keeping an eye on [him]' from there.
Fast forward four years and he became the youngest person to ever compete at the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. "I was the youngest they ever let do it," said Aidan. "It was just a really cool experience and was in Polignano a Mare, Italy.
