DERRIFORD Hospital has declared its fifth critical incident of 2024. Hospital chiefs cited “increased operational pressures and IT issues” affecting the trust’s “key clinical systems” as it announced the situation at 8am yesterday.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust said its Emergency Department was “currently very full” and urged people to use other healthcare services if they do not have an emergency or life-threatening condition.
A Plymouth MP described the latest critical incident as further illustration of the unsustainable pressure on the NHS.
