Edwards may or may not be a first team regular next season, only time will tell, but his contribution will be much more than just his minutes on the pitch for the Pilgrims. He is the club captain for a reason, a real leader of men.
When it all started to turn sour at Argyle last season during Ian Foster’s illfated three-month tenure as head coach, Edwards was an important voice in the dressing room, especially with so many young players around him.
Then, following the dismissal of Foster, Edwards spoke extremely well on behalf of the squad in the immediate aftermath, being professional but at the same time making it clear he felt a change had to be made.
