Plymouth City Council planners, under delegated powers this week, have given approval for a stage for live music, TV screens, improved toilet facilities and four food concessions at the ground. The facilities will be located outside the Mayflower Grandstand, while work is scheduled to begin following the end of the season.
It is all part of the drive at the club to improve the match-day experience for fans, which included the installation of a big screen inside the stadium for a ‘sizeable six-figure sum’ early this season. External works to improve the appearance of Home Park, including posts holding pictures of Argyle players, were also carried out last year.
Planning officers gave the scheme the go-ahead, despite five of the eight comments on the application being objections to the proposals. Officers also raised some concerns about certain aspects of the plans.
