'Holiday firm left us stranded in freezing Bulgaria'

A COUPLE from Plymouth were left stranded in freezing temperatures in Bulgaria, after their Jet2 holiday flight home from Turkey was diverted.

Karen Jeggo and Nigel Brain described their ordeal as a “shambles” and said it has put them off going abroad in the future.

The recently married couple from Devonport were on their way back to Bristol after a five-day holiday in Turkey when a medical emergency on board their plane meant the flight had to be diverted to the Bulgarian capital, Sofia.

The flight was then cancelled because the delay meant the crew had exceeded their hours, meaning passengers had to stay overnight in Bulgaria in minus 7C temperatures and without any warm clothing.

Karen said that many of the passengers had been left on the plane for two hours without food or water.
