PLYMOUTH'S famous Moorland Garden Hotel is due to reopen as a "luxury" nursing home in December following a multi-million-pound refurbishment which will create about 60 jobs.
The hotel, situated between Plymouth and Yelverton, closed three years ago with the company running it leaving debts of more than £1m and almost 60 weddings cancelled.
The hotel building was sold to London-based care company NYMS Services Ltd, a parent of Moorland Garden Ltd, for about £1m in November 2020 and a major revamp is nearing completion. Renamed the Moorland Garden Nursing Home, it will contain 55 ensuite rooms and is being described as providing "a significant boost to local care provision for nursing and dementia in the region".
