PLANS have been approved to build homes on the site of the former Whitleigh Youth Club. The scheme would see 10 homes built at Lancaster Gardens to help address the housing crisis.
Ten new community-led, affordable homes for local people ate set to be built. Four of the homes would be onebedroom bungalows, while six would be two-bedroom homes.
A previous planning application for four self-build houses on the site had been agreed but was never implemented. But fresh plans for 10 homes was submitted and approved by Plymouth City Council planners, despite the the site not being allocated for development as part of the Joint Local Plan.
The application says that the scheme has been developed with extensive community engagement. It also aims to deliver homes that raise the standard of housing in Plymouth. And now, under delegated powers, officers have approved the scheme.
