PLYMOUTH Parkway travelled to Hampshire to face 15th placed Sholing for the first of their Easter Bank Holiday double header games.
Two changes were made from last Tuesday's win over Didcot Town, with Alex Cairo replacing the injured Shane White and Oscar Halls in for Callum Rose. After his lengthy injury lay off, there was a welcome return for Jack Bray-Evans who was named among the substitutes. In the absence of the injured Ryan Lane, Toby Down was named captain.
On a bobbly but perfectly playable surface the game got off to an even start with neither side able to take control, however on seven minutes Lee Wort rounded Adam Parkes with Down covering well to clear the danger. From the resultant corner a scramble in the six yard area saw the ball fly up and hit the cross bar with Mikey Williams reacting quickest to clear the danger.
Sholing were now looking the more threatening and began to control midfield with Wort again the danger and deflecting a cross from Marvin McLean cross at the near post which was well saved by Parkes.
The home side continued to dominate with Parkway struggling to get into the game and unable to gain or retain any meaningful possession.
On 18 minutes a Sholing free-kick on the right into the six yard box saw a scuffed close-range effort smothered on the line by Parkes.
Parkway created their first opportunity on 24 minutes. Patient build up from right to left set up Tom Purrington but he could only shoot way over from around 25 yards.
