SCHUEY FRUSTRATED AS THINGS CONSPIRE AGAINST ARGYLE
CHRIS ERRINGTON
JUST NOT OUR NIGHT

STEVEN Schumacher admitted Plymouth Argyle did not make the most of some excellent attacking play as they lost 2-0 to Millwall in the Championship at Home Park while also expressing his unhappiness over the performance of referee Oliver Langford.

He thought there was case to be made that left-back Mickel Miller had been fouled by Kevin Nisbet before Duncan Watmore played through Zian Flemming in the 59th minute to open the scoring for the visitors from south-east London.

Schumacher also felt that Flemming 'forearm smashed' Kaine Kesler-Hayden in the face when taking the ball off him and setting up Millwall substitute George Saville to make it 2-0 in the seventh minute of added time.

The Pilgrims' boss spoke to Langford after the game to air his concerns, which included a couple of Argyle counter attacks in the first half being called back by the experienced EFL referee after Millwall committed fouls, rather than playing advantage.

Schumacher said: "Obviously, we wanted to get a better result than that. I felt the way we played especially early on in the game - the way we passed the ball, the energy and the quality we showed - was really good.

"We got into some dangerous areas and didn't quite make the most of them again. Some of that was excellent defending from them and some of it was poor decision making from us.

"It's frustrating overall because on the balance of it I think we have definitely deserved something from the game. I think we will play worse than that and get a result this season. It wasn't the way we wanted it to go." Schumacher continued: "There were a couple of opportunities in the first half where we should have been allowed to continue but the referee pulled the game back when we are counter-attacking so I'm really frustrated about that.
