IT'S BECOME A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE, SAYS COUNCILLOR
GUY HENDERSON
Lack of loos 'is putting people off going outside'

PLYMOUTH City Council are to hold a year-long review into public toilets after a councillor said a lack of loos in some areas is a 'public health issue' and could even be preventing some older people from venturing out.

The authority approved a motion to investigate the costs and opening hours of public lavatories, as well as starting an 'awareness programme' of available facilities.

The motion was proposed by Greens Cllr Lauren McLay, who told full council that many facilities had closed down permanently or temporarily because of poor upkeep or were inaccessible because of "odd opening hours and payment methods" or cost.
