That seems to be the case for Plymouth Parkway right now, who head into tonight’s Southern League Premier Division clash with Taunton Town still searching for their first league win of the season.
Under a new management team headed by Chris McPhee and his assistant, Lee Peacock, these are times of transition at Bolitho Park as the club move on from the hugely successful Lee Hobbs era. McPhee wants to bring his own style and philosophy to the club but while the eye-catching football has been good to watch, it is yet to yield results. And we all know that this is a results-led business.
However, there is no need to panic. While Parkway have two points and are four points adrift of safety, they are only six games in and such is their level of performance that it is hard to think anything other than the results will soon turn.
“There is real growth,” McPhee said. “The players are on board, they are committed and they are enjoying what they are doing. Yeah, in terms of the league form, we haven’t got that win, we have done more than enough to do that and that’s the frustrating thing – we are doing everything we can to string performances together and dominate our opponents and cause them lots of problems.
