ONE of the UK’s most modern M&S Food stores has opened in Plymouth – leaving shoppers delighted.
The outlet has started trading at the new £19 million Bravo Way out-of-town shopping centre in Derriford, with more than 150 people queuing to snap up goodies on its first morning. The 14,000 sqft outlet is more than double the size of the retailer’s previous outlet on the other side of Tavistock Road, and becomes the only one in the South West to sell the complete range of about 6,000 M&S products.
Dilys Tapper, with 42 years of service, making her the longest-serving M&S staff member in Plymouth, cut the ribbon, watched by colleagues and M&S mascot Percy Pig. Dilys said: “This is ‘wow’. It’s the only way I can describe it.”
Shoppers were queuing before the 9am opening and liked the modern look of the store and its range of products. Julie Lane had travelled from Landrake, in Cornwall, to buy fresh fruit and veg and said: “It’s fantastic. I thought I would take a look and it’s great.”
