Second half goals from Mitch Beardmore and Rio Garside saw Parkway overturn a 1-0 half-time deficit to pick up a much-needed three points with a display that delighted manager Chris McPhee, following their meek 4-0 home surrender in the FA Trophy clash with Chichester City last weekend.
However, it won't be easy. Merthyr are currently second in the standings and average three goals a game right now. Parkway have the secondworst goals against record in the division with 31 conceded in 13 games only rock bottom Marlow, with 32 from 13, have worse.
That said, Parkway have shown that when they are on top of their game, they can get results and McPhee is relishing the chance to take on a Merthyr side that, like Parkway, try and play in the right way.
"What I have seen with the players is that nothing fazes them," McPhee said. "It doesn't matter who rocks up; they know that if they roll their sleeves up when the ugly side of the game needs to be done, they can compete.
