PASSENGERS from a stunning cruise ship which stopped off in Plymouth at the weekend are estimated to have spent £200,000 on local businesses as they disembarked and enjoyed everything the city had to offer.
The MS Rotterdam made an eight-hour stop on April 16 and brought more than 2,600 passengers to Plymouth, stopping off en route from Fort Lauderdale, in Florida, to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
Richard Allan, harbour master of Cattewater Harbour Commissioners, said he was told by the Rotterdam’s captain that Plymouth is now getting a reputation as ‘one of the friendliest welcomes in Europe’ and it is estimated the ship’s passengers contributed £200,000 to the city’s economy.
