Poet Jackie is among Creme de la Creme

Jackie will be joined by Hazel Hon, Jude Costello, Chris and Rebecca Bradley, Livins Harris and William Telford on the stage at Leadworks, Stonehouse, on Wednesday, March 29.

PLYMOUTH poet, author and storyteller Jackie Wacha is among a stellar list of writers being showcased at the latest Creme de la Creme spoken word and music event.

Jackie is well-known and respected on the Plymouth literary scene, having been a member of Waterfront Writers and featured at Cross Country Writers and Plymouth Language Club readings.

Her work explores themes of identity and the environment, and she has visited schools in Devon and Cornwall to create awareness of diverse cultures and share the common thread of compassion as a virtue that underpins human values.

Born in Uganda during a time of political turmoil and upheaval, but now living in Plymouth, Jackie is also a human rights activist. She read law at Makerere University, and went on to study human rights at London Metropolitan University.

She has been writing poems and short stories ever since she first learned to read and has seen her work included in several anthologies including Waves of Sound and Gin City.
