Port Vale bosses give new Argyle loanee Devine a glowing reference

The 19-year-old England youth international has been recalled by Tottenham Hotspur from a successful loan spell with League One outfit Vale to be sent out to Argyle in the Championship for the rest of the season.

Devine joined Vale in late August and went on to make a total of 20 starts and six substitute appearances. His three goals included the one which sent them into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals for the first time in club history with a 1-0 fourth round win away to Mansfield Town.

Valiants boss Crosby said: “I want to begin by thanking both Tottenham Hotspur for their trust with one of their highly-rated, up-and-coming talents and to Alfie for his efforts and commitment to Port Vale throughout his time with the club.

“When Alfie joined us on loan in the summer, one of the key selling points of the club was the assurance that he would be coming in and gaining valuable Football League experience in what would be his first professional loan away from Tottenham.
