The 2023 Bonfire Night event was previously pulled from the calendar, as part of Plymouth Council's 2022 budget savings.
In November 2022, the Conservative city council cabinet discussed stopping the event completely or finding a sponsor which could generate £30,000 of extra income.
But since then, the council's new Labour administration has decided to go ahead with the event for this year. The event will return as a one-off as part of the council's 'fun for free' strand of its Cost of Living Action Plan that has developed in order to support the health and well-being of residents.
