DERRY'S CROSS WILDWOOD SHUT ITS DOORS IN APRIL

Restaurant chain made losses of over £14m

A PLYMOUTH restaurant closed, after its parent firm made a £14.5 million loss.

The Wildwood restaurant in Plymouth city centre shut in April, along with 13 other outlets. The hospitality chain Tasty, which also runs the Dim t Asian food brand, shuttered the Derry’s Cross restaurant despite a 4.1% sales hike, because increased utility, food and labour costs hit the group.

The company, which also has a Wildwood restaurant at the city’s Royal William Yard, warned it would continue to struggle this year, due to inflation and a negative impact on sales from events including the Euro 2024 football competition and the Olympic Games.
